Emrah Çelik is born in 1992 in South of Turkey, raised in a working class family. As an adolescent he started his carrier in film industry in 2009. His taste and skills grew gradually as he worked in many different genre of films. Since 2017 he lives and works in Berlin. Same year he started analog photography. Since the beginning, his practice included developing and printing his own work. Not long after he picked up the camera, his life long studies towards workers rights, social realism and history led him to identify as social documentary photographer.

Even though his focus on subject was clear, his artistic taste was not only defined by it; such as Cartier Bresson, Tina Modotti, Robert Frank are influential in Çelik’s photography style.

Cinematography of Çelik has been greatly influenced by photography, moving in direction of Roby Müller, searching for live compositions while carefully crafting scenery and language of the camera to aid him to catch the rarities of moments.

In film and photography Çelik is drawn to capturing intimacy, solidarity, political standings and most importantly the state of humanitarian values in societies.
